Application Advice
Successful grant applications often
  • are written by the proposed team leader. The project is being driven by someone with passion and appropriate background;
  • are well supported by the school principal and leadership team. The principal not only endorses the application but takes high level interest in the project’s progress;
  • describe projects that align well with stated school goals. They can be specific subsets of broader school initiatives;
  • describe sustainable projects that will impact the school well beyond the term of the grant;
  • clearly describe realistic outcomes;
  • focus on teacher quality, often measured through student outcomes;
  • articulate an ability and desire to share valuable project resources with the NSW independent schools sector.
Successful applications for ongoing projects being continued into a second year often:
  • build upon the successes of the previous year, perhaps into a different area of the school;
  • take the project to a distinctly higher level;
  • use team members from the previous years as leaders or mentors.
