Support for Schools to Improve Teacher Quality
All independent schools can access support for professional learning for school leaders and teachers through funding provided by the National Partnership on Improving Teacher Quality.
Course Subsidies have already been applied to eligible AIS PD courses. In addition, subsidies are available for other eligible professional learning.
Regional and remote schools may also apply for Regional and Remote Schools Travel Assistance to subsidise travel and accommodation expenses for teachers and school leaders accessing eligible professional learning.

The ISCE supports independent schools to develop and share high quality teaching practice. Grants can be accessed through the ISCE to support school leaders and teachers to:
participate in professional exchange and mentoring between schools
access opportunities for outstanding teachers to take up new challenges working with others
build supportive relationships to share expertise
increase the number of teachers accredited at the higher levels
attract staff to regional schools and to schools with high Aboriginal enrolments
support educational pathways into teaching for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal young people.

For schools looking for less formal ways to support other schools to develop high quality teaching and learning, the ISCE encourages independent schools to consider:
providing hospitality for teachers from regional areas attending professional learning nearby
supporting another school by inviting their staff to participate in professional learning activities at your school
sharing resources and/or expertise with other independent schools.
