At the beginning of 2014 the Australian Government implemented a new school funding model which resulted in the cessation of the majority of funded programs, including the following:
- Literacy and Numeracy
- Special Needs (including Integration, Children with Severe Disabilities, Capital Works and Equipment for Students with a Disability, Special Schools and Special Assistance Schools, Special Schools Integration and Non-School Organisations)
- Country Areas Program
- ESL New Arrivals
- Student Wellbeing
- National Partnerships
Program funding that was previously available to schools through these programs that were administered by the AIS is now incorporated into the per capita student funding and paid directly to schools in the form of loadings from the NSW and Australian Governments.
AIS Partnerships in Education
The AIS has developed a range of projects designed to enable, assist and support independent schools to achieve the key educational objectives of the Australian Government as outlined in its Students First reform agenda, and the New South Wales Government’s Great Teaching, Inspired Learning (GTIL) initiative, with additional funding and support provided by the AIS.
Details of these projects, including selection and eligibility criteria, application processes and contact information are provided on individual project pages (see menu on the left of this page). As projects commence and are available for schools to participate, details will be added to this site.
Consultancy support is still provided to schools by the AIS to assist in meeting the needs of disadvantaged students. If your school would like to access support for disadvantaged students or students with special needs please contact the AIS to discuss how we may be able to assist.
