Grants are offered of up to $1500 for independent schools to conduct student wellbeing based projects which support the promotion of student wellbeing and the development of the pastoral capacity within the school. Funding for these projects is provided by programs from the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).
Research supports the concept that student wellbeing and academic progress are inextricably linked. If student wellbeing is compromised, so is learning and in turn, student academic outcomes. The precise nature of a Student Wellbeing project that can be undertaken with this funding is quite flexible. Schools may focus their project on a specific aspect of student wellbeing or a number of aspects, including resilience building, values education, road safety education, drug education, school transitions, social and emotional learning and/or mental health.
The 2011 Student Wellbeing Grant application process has closed for this year. Please continue to visit the website for information about further opportunities in relation to student wellbeing.
