Professional Review and Development System
The AIS has developed a standards-based Professional Review and Development System (PR&D) that can be customised for individual schools or school systems. PR&D will assist schools to develop, implement and evaluate improvements in the achievement of school strategic goals for individual teachers, faculties or at the level of the whole school. PR&D enables schools to identify professional learning needs of teachers and select professional development strategies and events that target professional growth that aligns to the school’s goals. PR&D provides a process that supports change in leadership and classroom practices.
PR&D includes:
· a web-based portal that facilitates online planning, management of the stages in the process, storage and retrieval of data and the production of reports
· a framework that involves and promotes teachers reflecting on their practice and working collaboratively with their colleagues to achieve school and personal professional goals .
As a result of implementing PR&D school leaders and teachers will:
· develop a common understanding of quality teaching and learning within their school
· receive constructive feedback on their leadership and teaching practice
· participate in professional learning that supports professional growth and the achievement of school goals
· use professional teaching standards as a basis for their professional discourse
· reflect on their practice and plan professional learning aligned to school goals, make judgements about strengths, areas for development and professional growth.
PR&D provides a transparent, rigorous and comprehensive process for developing leadership capacity, building teacher effectiveness, creating coherent professional learning plans and enhancing school culture.
