 Registration and Accreditation of Schools

AISNSW provides advice and assistance to member schools in relation to registration and accreditation matters and also offers workshops for schools that are preparing for re-registration and accreditation.  Resource documents providing advice on the requirements for registration and accreditation of schools, additional requirements for boarding schools, annual reports and enrolment processes are available for AIS member schools and can be accessed by approved staff (you must be registered on the AIS site to do this).

All independent schools must be registered and accredited by the NSW Board of Studies.  New schools must gain provisional registration before the first year of operation.

Detailed information about requirements and procedures is available on the Board of Studies’ website at www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au  - select ‘Manuals and Guides’ from the menu, go to the section headed ‘Registration’ and click on ‘Registered and Accredited Individual Non-Government Schools (NSW) Manual’.  Schools that are members of a registered system should use the ‘Registration Systems and Member Non-Government Schools (NSW) Manual’.

Additional requirements exist for boarding schools or schools approved to provide educational services for overseas students.  Member schools seeking advice or assistance in relation to registration and accreditation matters or further information about the range and extent of services available should contact Robyn Yates, Director: Government Education Policy, on (02) 9299 2845.
