The NSW Board of Studies provides for special examination provisions to be granted to students who have special examination needs with practical support in the School Certificate tests and the Higher School Certificate examinations.
Students' special examination needs may include learning, medical, vision or hearing difficulties. Examples of provisions may include: Braille or large print papers, use of a writer and/or reader, use of an interpreter, extension of test time, rest breaks, use of a personal computer, separate exam supervision, individual supervision, and permission to take medication.
Students must apply to the Board of Studies if they wish to be considered for special provisions in examinations. Application forms and information guides are available for schools for this purpose. All applications are assessed independently through the Board of Studies.
