Road Safety Education (RSE) programmes are instrumental in increasing students’ knowledge and skills in road safety and in reducing the number of deaths and injuries from road accidents.
AISNSW have a Programme Agreement with Transport NSW - Centre for Road Safety for the delivery of RSE in independent schools. The schools RSE programme aims to develop and deliver resources and professional learning opportunities for teachers; advocates for the delivery of RSE to students by classroom teachers and forms an integral part of the formal curriculum in primary and secondary schools as well as teacher pre-service training.
The AIS is also able to distribute a variety of RSE resource kits and provide complimentary professional learning support to teachers in the delivery and implementation of these resources.
The AIS K-12 RSE programme is funded by Transport for NSW, Centre for Road Safety, and is committed to supporting best teaching and learning practices in the delivery of RSE within the PDHPE curriculum in particular, and other areas of the curriculum as appropriate such as pastoral care, and Stage 6 English.
