The AIS believes that it is important for independent schools to be proactive in providing their communities with evidence of their uniqueness and the value they add to the educational experience of their students. It is also important that all independent school stakeholders know what makes their school an excellent school beyond the information available on the MySchool website.
The Evaluating Excellence in Independent Schools process has been designed to assist independent schools to examine their effectiveness and plan for continuous improvement. This research-based process enables schools to highlight strengths, identify priority areas for development, engender a sense of ownership among members of the school community and develop a clear action plan to facilitate improvement. It is underpinned by the following key questions:
- How good is our school?
- How do we know?
- How great can we be?
- What are we going to do now?
- What have we achieved?
The Evaluating Excellence in Independent Schools process is facilitated by the AIS with the support of a school-based evaluation team and involves the entire school community including all teaching and non-teaching staff, students and parents.
