Teacher accreditation in NSW independent schools takes a number of different forms depending on the type of industrial agreement in place and a range of other factors. In all instances, new teachers (those who commenced after October 2004 or are returning after an absence of 5 years or more) must be registered with the NSW Institute of Teachers.
Teachers can be recognised and, where relevant, remunerated by gaining accreditation through the NSW Institute of Teachers and/or the Independent Schools Teacher Accreditation Authority. The information below applies to teachers in AISNSW member schools.
The menu items on the left provide more details about ISTAA and the NSWIT. Member schools can contact the AIS on (02) 9299 2845 for more information and assistance.
