Invitation

HSC Languages – Use of Dictionaries
The use of monolingual and/or bilingual print dictionaries (but NOT electronic dictionaries) is permitted in the Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Modern Greek and Spanish Beginners written examinations and in the Continuers, Extension, Background Speakers and CCAFL written languages examinations.

National Curriculum Board
National curriculum will be developed collaboratively across Australia with key education stakeholders and the general community. English, mathematics, sciences and history are the first subjects to be developed and implemented in schools from 2011. The second suite of subjects will include languages and geography. The timeline for their implementation has not yet been determined.

Olympic Games - Resource for Languages K-7
Developed by the MLTA Victoria this free resource introduces students to the Olympics, uncovering the Olympic symbols whilst preparing them for a school-based Olympic celebration held in the language they are learning. The celebrations will take place on Olympic Day - Friday 20 June 2008. The resource includes 5 Languages lessons available in nine languages: Arabic, Chinese, Croatian, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.

2008 MLTA Short Film Competition
The Modern Language Teachers Association is once again inviting Stage 3,4 and 5 students whose teachers are members to submit a two-minute (or less) film on a given theme in their target language. Entries close Wed 22 October 08.
