Stage 6 HSC Core 1 Worksheets
The AIHW has recently released a series of new worksheets from the publication Australia's Health 2010 (released in June). The ten worksheets cover many areas pertinent to HSC Core 1 such as burden of disease, life expectancy, indigenous health, mental health burden, chlamydia and smoking and alcohol rates. AIHW also currently have a school deal where you can received 20 free copies of Australia's Health 2010 In Brief with the purchase of one Australia's Health 2010 book. PDHPETA Awards 2010
The PDHPE Teachers' Association are calling for nominations for their annual awards for PDHPE teachers and leaders. All members of the PDHPE community in NSW are invited to recognise the contribution made to the PDHPE profession of their peers and colleagues and nominate them for any of the three awards. 1: Doug Scholz Award for Outstanding Service to the PDHPE Profession, 2: Quality Teaching and Leadership Award and 3: Early Career Teacher (2-5yrs) Award. Nomination forms and criteria for each award can be downloaded from the PDHPETA website www.pdhpeta.org Nominations are due by Friday September 17th.  
The Critics' Choice 2010
The Critics' Choice 2010 is now available to schools.This DVD resource is developed annually by the Australian Network on Young People and Tobacco and the NSW Department of Education and Training; and is designed to help raise awareness in young people about the risks of smoking while encouraging them to make healthy lifestyle decisions. The DVD contains 10 anti smoking advertisements, a teacher resource booklet and electronic teaching and learning activities including for the first time in 2010, activities suitable for use with IWBs. Australian Curriculum
It was announced by MCEECDYA on April 15th that Health and Physical Education (HPE) is to be included in Phase 3 of the Australian Curriculum development. PDHPE Teachers' Association Conference 2010
The annual PDHPE Teachers' Association Conference will be held at the Novotel Pacific Bay Resort in Coffs Harbour on October 15th and 16th this year. The conference theme is: Putting a Spark into PDHPE and there will be three focus strands for workshops - Moving, Technology and Quality Teaching. Cannabis and mental health resource
The Victorian Department of Health in conjunction with the Department of Education have developed a new resource for Year 9 and 10 students to assist teachers in discussing issues around cannabis use and mental health. The resource includes short films, fact sheets and a series of lesson plans with useful teaching and learning strategies. The resource can be downloaded from the Department of Health website.
