Before and After School Care Infrastructure Grants

Infrastructure Grants now available for OSHC services

In 2019 the Department of Education opened an Infrastructure Grant as part of the Before and After School Care (BASC) Reform Program to increase the availability of places in out of school hours care (OSHC) services.

Grant funding must be used to create a new OSHC service or to increase the number of places in an existing service. Expenditure could include site modifications and fit-out costs, project management (including tendering or regulatory costs) or equipment to support additional places. Funding is not available for on-going costs to run the service, such as rent, utilities, wages and personal expenses. The proposed service must provide before and/or after school care but may also provide vacation care.

As not-for-profit organisations, independent schools may apply for grants of up to $30,000, providing they can demonstrate that their OSHC places will also be offered or made available to students from government primary schools.

Online applications may be submitted through Smarty Grants.
