Updated information about the 2025 Non-Government Schools Census is now available on SchoolsHUB. Census day is Friday 1 August 2025 and the Census reference period is the 20 school days leading up to and including Census Day.

SchoolsHUB will open for 2025 Census data entry on 28 July, with the Census declaration due by 8 August.

The Non-government Schools Census collects information about the numbers of students and staff, including NCCD data on students with disability and is used by the Australian Government to calculate funding for each school. Census data also informs part of the My School website and provides parents and the community with information about schools and students in Australia.

Data accuracy and record-keeping

Schools are required to maintain records verifying the eligibility of all students reported in the Census for a minimum of seven years.

This includes records of evidence for both NCCD reporting and reporting students as either Australian citizens or students on a visa.

Schools may be asked to provide their records as a part of the Australian Government Department of Education’s Census Post Enumeration Exercise. The accuracy of data is crucial as incorrect data may jeopardise a school’s funding.

Privacy

Schools are reminded that parents, guardians and staff must be informed about the department’s use of Census data. The 2025 Census Privacy Collection Notice is available for this purpose.

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)

Please be aware that there are no changes to the 2025 NCCD process or reporting from 2024.
