The AISNSW Leadership Centre’s 2022 Programs and Services have been designed to empower, and they are open for registration.

As with all of its high-quality offerings, the AIS Leadership Centre opportunities have been strategically designed to cater to different career stages of school staff from executive personal assistants to aspiring and new principals and many roles in between.

The AIS Leadership Centre creates professional learning to challenge and inspire.

AIS Leadership Centre Dean Jenni-Lee Williams says career stage programs and masterclasses will be offered as remote, face-to-face and hybrid models in 2022, making it easier than ever to engage with professional learning in the areas of principalship, middle leadership and leadership support.

Programs for 2022 will be delivered face-to-face as well as remotely.

Here are just a few of the opportunities specifically catering to those in the independent school sector.

Principal Induction Program

New principals that have graduated from the Principal Induction Program know it is a reassuring and challenging experience providing a strong foundation in the important early stages of their leadership role.

“One of the comments graduates of the Principal Induction Program make year after year is that it provides a distinct positive difference because of the relationships formed; they know they’re not alone, they have people telling stories that are so similar to their stories."

The Principal Induction Program supports new principals to manage complex challenges.

“The Principal Induction Program has been tailored to provide new Independent school principals with skills and guidance from experienced school leaders,” Jenni-Lee says.

“They get to network and connect with other principals and learn about how they deal with the complex challenges that schools bring. They also examine the practical aspects such as briefings on school finance, people management, child protection, school registration and accreditation.”

New principals who complete this course are in the unique position to develop vital networks unique to the Independent school sector.

One of the advantages of the Principal Induction Program is the support developed between participants.

“One of the comments graduates of the Principal Induction Program make year after year is that it provides a distinct positive difference because of the relationships formed; they know they’re not alone, they have people telling stories that are so similar to their stories,” Jenni-Lee says.

“It gives them the confidence and comfort to know that it is a difficult and a rewarding job and that there is a fraternity they can reach out to; that is an amazing part of the program.”

Executive Personal Assistants

"What we offer is a program that allows them to look at their strengths and challenges, and to also receive useful hints and tips from experienced people in the field as to how they can navigate the demanding school environment."

The Executive Personal Assistants Program is only available at the AIS Leadership Centre. It has been designed to deepen participants’ understanding of the role so that they feel equipped to support school leaders and effectively manage the complex demands of life in schools.

Executive personal assistants learn how to navigate the demanding school environment.

“In many cases, personal assistants are at the coalface of the school. They are essential to the running of the school. What we offer is a program that allows them to look at their strengths and challenges, and to also receive useful hints and tips from experienced people in the field as to how they can navigate the demanding environment,” Jenni-Lee says.

Similar to the Principal Induction Program, an alumni for executive personal assistant participants offers further rewarding opportunities.

Masterclasses and in-school programs

The masterclasses and in-school programs spearhead areas of development for school leaders and for teachers who wish to take their careers to the next stage. Adaptive Leadership, Next Level Leadership for Executive Teams and Courageously Navigating Hard Conversations are just some of the programs on offer in 2022.

AIS Leadership masterclasses and in-school programs are unique to the independent sector.

Women in Leadership

The Women in Leadership masterclass is experiencing a renaissance with this three-day course to help develop women’s confidence in their roles.

Women in Leadership helps women grow in confidence as leaders.

“It’s about encouraging and understanding who you are as a leader, how you can show up as a leader and having the confidence to own the role,” Jenni-Lee says.

Ultimately, the AIS Leadership Centre is about empowering school staff to become courageous navigators for the emerging future leading from head and heart.
