Each year AISNSW staff present an in person information session about opening a new independent school. It is designed to provide participants with an overview and understanding of the complex regulatory landscape and requirements for opening a new school in NSW.
Information session summary
Participants will be provided with:
- an overview of the independent sector
- funding, business and property planning
- legislative and regulatory frameworks
- requirements for school registration and teacher accreditation
- application process and timeframes to open a new independent school in NSW.

It is designed for individuals or groups considering opening a new independent school in NSW.
Cost
There is no cost for this information session. However, each person who wants to attend must register individually.
Dates and location
In 2026, there will be two dates offered:
- Thursday 16 April
- Wednesday 30 September.
The information session is a face-to-face all-day event (9am-3.pm) at AISNSW’s conference centre in the Sydney CBD.

After registration, a course confirmation email will be sent.
A week before the information session, a final email confirming venue details will be sent.
