Primary Spelling has been developed by The Association of Independent Schools of NSW (AISNSW) as a whole school professional learning initiative to support K-6 teachers to teach spelling effectively.

A school’s commitment to Primary Spelling includes:


School-based Professional Learning*

delivered by a education consultant on four separate occasions to provide a comprehensive approach to spelling development and instruction.

 * Eight hours of NESA accredited professional learning


Consultancy Support

focused on assisting executive to support teachers with translating the professional learning into practice.


Other components are:


Parent Workshop/s

to equip parents with increased understanding of English spelling and strategies to support their children’s spelling knowledge.


Resources

including current educational research, video clips, classroom strategies and materials.

Target Audience: All K-6 staff including learning support

Timeframe: Components are distributed over two school terms.
