A Mindset of Wonder: The power of questions in consent and respectful relationships.

Consent content has been significantly strengthened in the new NSW PDHPE 7-10 Syllabus. Katrina will explore the power of comprehensive, age-appropriate respectful relationships and consent education for young people, including strategies to enhance student’s knowledge and skills. Katrina is the leading expert in Australia on consent education.

Dr Scott Griffiths, University of Melbourne

The Age of Algorithms: How TikTok is changing how young people relate to themselves and to each other.

Algorithms developed by social media platforms are reshaping young people's self-image and their relationships with the world and each other. Dr Scott Griffiths will draw on the research to offer insights into digital spaces so that teachers can better educate young people to navigate their increasingly complex online worlds. Scott is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychological Sciences at the University of Melbourne.

For 40 years John has worked with schools to transform classroom teaching, learning and assessment. With new PDHPE syllabuses from K-12 being implemented in coming years, there is an enormous opportunity to create contemporary and meaningful learning experiences that excite children and young people. John’s engaging and passionate approach will challenge teachers to reflect and think differently about their teaching, learning and assessment practices.

Unpacking the new PDHPE K-6 and 7-10 syllabuses (released July 2024).

A new syllabus provides an exciting opportunity for teachers to design innovative and engaging learning for students. This learning will empower children and young people to have the knowledge and skills to enhance their health, safety and wellbeing in their current and future lives. Katrina will explore the new requirements, structure, outcomes and content of the new syllabus to support planning for implementation. She is an Education Consultant: PDHPE at the Association of Independent Schools NSW.
