Investing in the Future will explore innovative, engaging and authentic teaching, learning and assessment strategies to create purposeful learning in PDHPE. Be inspired by keynote speakers who will address significant concepts in the PDHPE K-10 Syllabus as an investment in the health, safety and wellbeing of children and young people.

Immerse yourself in interactive workshops designed to dive deeply into a variety of teaching and learning focuses as well as a range of syllabus contexts. A highlight of this event will be the opportunity to network with PDHPE colleagues and explore the recently opened Allianz Stadium.

This Conference has been subsidised through funding from Transport for NSW under the Road Safety in Schools program and meets the criteria for NESA Accredited PD in the Priority Area of Delivery and Assessment of NSW Curriculum.

Keynote Presenter: Mark McCrindle

Investing in the Future of Young People

Mark McCrindle is a social researcher, futurist and TEDx speaker. He is the principal of his advisory firm, McCrindle and the author of five books on leadership and generational change.

Mark will give an overview of the technological, global, financial, generational, and social shifts in the education sector today. The implications for PDHPE teachers will be discussed so that educators can be equipped to invest into the future of young people and empower them with the skills required to thrive in the coming years.

Keynote Speaker: Dawn Penney

Investing in Quality and Inclusive Physical Education Assessment

Dawn is a professorial research fellow at Edith Cowan University in the School of Education. She leads research project developments addressing quality and equity in health and physical education, physical activity and sport. Dawn is a leading figure in Health and Physical Education research nationally and internationally.

Dawn will address the various challenges teachers of PDHPE encounter with assessment in physical education. She will unpack the research and best practice approaches to ensure inclusive and high-quality assessment.

Keynote Speaker: Andrew Fuller

Investing in Young People to Create Great Lives

Andrew has recently been described as someone who “puts the heart back into psychology”. As a clinical psychologist, he specialises in the wellbeing of young people and their families.

Andrew will be presenting the closing conference keynote, which will discuss strategies that empower young people to be the person they want to be in life. He will unpack the areas of identity and resilience as well as how students can create quality relationships in their lives. Andrew’s engaging presentation style ensures the research can be taken back into the classroom where it can make the most difference.

Investing in Online Respectful Relationships

Kellie Britnell is an online safety expert with more than 15 years of experience supporting eSafety’s education and training initiatives. Kellie provides strategic advice on new and emerging technology trends related to the government’s eSafety responsibilities.

Kellie will advocate that supporting children and young people develop respectful relationship skills must always include an online component. With technology changing so rapidly and impacting all aspects of our lives, it’s important to proactively talk and teach about online respectful relationships, early and often.

Allianz Stadium is a state-of-the-art, world class venue built for the future of sport in Australia. It opened its doors to the public in August 2022 and is the venue for the 2023 AISNSW PDHPE K-10 Conference.
