AISNSW is offering schools in all areas of NSW a comprehensive program of professional learning to support the implementation of the new K-2 English and Mathematics syllabuses.
The offerings will take teachers beyond the basic layout of the syllabuses to drill down into areas such as designing scope and sequences and effective units of learning.
The support will also focus on areas of the syllabuses that may be unfamiliar to teachers, for example, understanding the textual concepts in English and how to use mentor texts, teaching essential skills in reading and spelling K-2, and effectively teaching the big ideas in Mathematics K-6.
AISNSW professional learning will take teachers beyond the basic layout of the syllabuses.
AISNSW professional learning opportunities:
- online self-paced modules that teachers can access and work through when it best suits them. These will focus on programming and planning for English and Maths K-2
- blended modules that will combine online self-paced learning and live virtual webinars via Zoom
- face to face courses in the AISNSW Conference Centre.
More information will be sent out as registration opens in 2022.

AISNSW professional learning will also focus on syllabus areas unfamiliar to teachers.
New AISNSW initiative: syllabus implementation support for school curriculum leaders
We are excited to be launching a new resource hub initiative to enable school leaders to network with other leaders in their region throughout the period of curriculum reform.
Seven regional and four metropolitan hubs will be launched in early Term 1, 2022 as part of the English K-2 Syllabus implementation workshops to be held for primary curriculum leaders (Stage or Year Coordinators, Primary Curriculum Coordinators, Heads, and Deputies).
Similar workshops will be held in early Term 3, 2022 to support the implementation of the Mathematics K-2 syllabus.

Where to find AISNSW professional learning
All courses will be advertised via the AISNSW Curriculum Reform portal and on the AISNSW Courses and Events page. They will be tagged ‘Curriculum Reform’ to make searching easier.

AISNSW bespoke consultancies offer a powerful form of professional learning.
Bespoke support
We welcome inquiries about creating bespoke consultancies tailored to your school’s needs.
Many schools engage our expert education consultants for a year-long program to support teachers in writing their new units of learning. We have often found this to be the most powerful form of professional learning, bearing all the hallmarks that lead to effective practice.
It is in-house, coherent, sustained over time, varied, collaborative, and linked directly to teachers’ daily work.

Tailored professional learning leads to effective practice.
For all enquiries about professional learning, please contact Sue Pike, Manager of K-12 Curriculum.
