Release of new Commerce 7-10 Syllabus

The new Commerce 7–10 Syllabus was released on Wednesday 6 November and can now be accessed via NESA’s Digital Curriculum. Additional teaching and learning support materials will be released as they are finalised.

Commencing in 2025, schools can plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus, with mandatory implementation from 2027.

NESA’s new Teaching Grammar course

A new optional online professional learning course Teaching Grammar is now available on NESA’s online learning hub. This course is designed to support K–10 English teachers in developing their understanding of grammatical components and how grammar forms part of the essential content of the English K–10 Syllabus.

There are five self-paced interactive modules which may be completed individually or with colleagues. Through particular elements of content, teachers have opportunities to select their preferred pathway based on the Stage(s) that they teach and their prior knowledge, confidence and skills. This provides them with opportunities to see examples of teaching and learning activities linked to syllabus content relevant to their year level or Stage.

Implementation of Primary Syllabuses

At the end of last term, the Primary Teaching and Learning Team ran a one-hour webinar where we provided information to all our schools about the rollout of the four primary syllabuses: Creative Arts, HSIE, PDHPE and Science & Technology. These have all been released and schools now have two years (2025 and 2026) to become familiar with these and to rewrite all their documentation ready for mandatory implementation in 2027.

If you were unable to attend the webinar, you can watch it here in your own time.

Below, you will also find several documents that were referred to in the webinar.

  1. AISNSW Primary Syllabus Implementation 2024-2027 Booklet: This outlines a range of possible scenarios that you may wish to consider as you begin planning for implementation of the final four Primary syllabuses in your school.
  2. A NESA School Registration Fact Sheet that provides advice to schools who may wish to implement one or more of the new syllabuses prior to 2027.
  3. A flyer with details of our new Primary Curriculum Network that we will be launching in 2025. This will be open to all Primary Curriculum leaders in schools.
