The Role of the Chair program for NSW Independent School Chairs and Deputy Chairs


AISNSW in partnership with the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) will offer four (4) enhanced courses called The Role of the Chair. There will be two courses in 2023 and two courses in 2024.

Each course is limited to approximately 13 participants and is offered in a face-to-face mode for Chairs and Deputy Chairs of NSW Independent schools. The course is facilitated by an expert facilitator with deep, real-world experience including as a Chair of a leading independent school.

The course is interactive in nature. Participants are guided through practical case studies and group discussions and are encouraged to apply their learning to their individual circumstances.

The course explores the Chair’s leadership role and key governance responsibilities.

Key objectives:

  • An appreciation of their responsibilities as a leader inside and outside the boardroom and their impact on board productivity
  • An understanding of their unique role in boardroom dynamics and board succession planning
  • Insights to enhance their working relationship with other board members and the CEO/Principal
  • Increased confidence in managing difficult situations and crises calmly and effectively.

Venue: AISNSW offices – Level 12 / 99 York Street, Sydney NSW 2000.

Cost: $995
