AIS Leadership Centre consultants have experience in developing strategy in the educational, corporate and not-forprofit sectors. Our processes draw from several approaches to strategic planning: appreciative inquiry; the work of Kotter; outcome-based strategic planning for schools; and our own theory, developed from working with schools, and other organisations, and implemented within schools we have led and with whom we have worked (Degenhardt & Duignan, 2010).
How long will it take?
In effective strategic planning processes there is no ‘one size fits all’. Some schools may have already made significant progress toward developing their strategy. Others may require more assistance. As a guideline, a strategy development process will generally take between three and four terms, depending on the amount of contextual data the school has already developed.
