Exploring the Journey

The Research in Schools Showcase brings together educators who are interested and/or engaged in school based research.

This Showcase will explore the impact of research on student outcomes, pedagogy and practice, leadership, wellbeing, and the broader school community.

Network with teachers, academics and other education professionals, including past and present AISNSW School Based Research Project participants as they share their experiences and expertise.

This is the ideal learning opportunity for educators interested in initiating research projects to discover the successes and challenges of the processes involved. If you have ever thought about conducting school research, join other interested educators to discover how research can have an impact on you and your school community.

Keynote Presenter: Dr Martin Hughes

Head of Research, Development and Wellbeing at Skillset Senior College

Martin Hughes has a PhD in Evolution from the University of Glasgow. He has always had a passion for teaching and engaging with students from disadvantaged backgrounds. In 2019, Martin established a research hub in New South Wales at Skillset Senior College after receiving funding and support from AISNSW.

The research hub investigates the impact of alternative education on student mental health and physiology. Using his background in experimental design and statistical analysis Martin has created a range of novel studies within the college and is currently working with a number of Australian universities.
