We are pleased to announce that following feedback from principals, further enhancements are coming to Experienced Teacher accreditation for the 2025 cohort as AISNSW continues to provide more streamlined and flexible processes.

Key enhancements for 2025 Experienced Teacher accreditation include:

  • revised timeline for application and submission to move to one cohort per year
  • accreditation fee is broken into two parts (application fee and submission fee)
  • increased flexibility for evidence with a focus on holistic demonstration of practice against the Standards
  • plans for additional resources to support schools and teachers.

Full details of these enhancements will be published in a new consolidated Experienced Teacher Accreditation Manual which will be available in Term 1 2024.

To assist your school and teachers in their planning, you can find additional information about the revised timelines and support available below.

Revised timelines

You can access a copy of the revised timelines for 2025 Experienced Teacher accreditation here.

As Experienced Teacher accreditation is designed to enable formal recognition of independent school teachers whose skills and practice are consistently at a standard beyond Proficient, we have moved applications to a two-week period in Term 4 to enable teachers to start and finish the process within one year. This change better reflects the purpose of Experienced Teacher accreditation as an opportunity for teachers to reflect on and collate evidence of their current practice rather than spend extensive time creating new materials. The revised timeline also lightens the load on schools and supervisors by only having one cohort of applicants active at a time.

We have also extended the evidence selection period to include the full calendar year prior to the teacher submitting their evidence to recognise that Experienced Teacher accreditation is recognition of a teacher’s current practice and enable teachers to use artifacts of their teaching prior to their application being made.

Support for schools and teachers

AISNSW will continue to support Independent schools with a range of Professional Development available throughout 2024 including:

  • Are you ready for Experienced Teacher Accreditation? a new online module to assist applicants, supervisors and Principals in determining the readiness of a teacher to apply for Experienced Teacher accreditation.
  • Working Towards Experienced Teacher Accreditation course for both current and prospective Experienced Teacher accreditation applicants.
  • Supporting Teachers through Experienced Teacher Accreditation course for both current and prospective Experienced Teacher accreditation supervisors.

Information about Experienced Teacher accreditation is available on the AISNSW Resource Centre.
