Wingara Student Leadership Day

AISNSW provides an annual student leadership event for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander secondary students to support cultural connections, leadership development and post-school pathway planning.

We are excited to announce the return of the AISNSW Wingara Student Leadership Event for 2025, with the theme of dhurali warunggag, which is to grow Elders in the Dharug Language.

Join us for a day of Cultural engagement, leadership development and post-school pathway planning for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Years 9 – 12.

Each year, this event provides a range of opportunities for students to engage in leadership and cultural workshops where students connect and celebrate culture as an important aspect of wellbeing, developing a sense of belonging, educational success, and resilience.

Students will also engage with current Western Sydney University students to gain a deeper understanding of university life, pathways, and academic mentoring, along with a range of organisations to assist in post-school pathway planning.

Students are supported by their supervising teachers who will walk alongside students throughout the day, taking the learning from the day back to school to continue conversations and learnings.
