AISNSW Teacher Education Scholarship


The AISNSW Teacher Education Scholarship is a merit-based academic scholarship for an undergraduate Bachelor of Education or Master of Teaching student who wants to contribute to the rich learning of students in the Independent education sector. The successful candidate will be in their final year of study and receive the 12-month AISNSW Teacher Education Scholarship to work in a participating Independent school. 

The scholarship offers:

  • A remission of university tuition fees in the final year of study valued at $10,000 (paid at end of Term One, 2026) upon successful completion of their degree and presentation of executed full-time employment contract with an Independent school.
  • A paid internship in an Independent member school located, to be negotiated, for:
    one day per week (or equivalent) during Terms 1 - 3, 2025
    equivalent of four days per week during Term 4, 2025.

Eligibility


This Scholarship will be awarded to a student with an excellent academic record who will contribute to the curricular and co-curricular life within the Independent school and be supportive of its ethos. 

To be eligible for this scholarship the student must be enrolled full-time in their final
year in 2025 in one of the following degrees:

  • Master of Teaching (Early Childhood)
  • Master of Teaching (Primary Education)
  • Master of Teaching (Secondary Education)
  • Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood)
  • Bachelor of Education (Primary Education)
  • Bachelor of Education (Secondary Education)

The Candidate will:

  • Participate in a paid internship at an Independent school for one day a week during Terms 1-3, and the equivalent of four days per week during Term 4
  • Receive guidance from a trained mentor teacher allocated by the school
  • Commit to working in the independent sector beyond the completion of the degree
  • Take part in the school’s onboarding and induction process
  • Provide AISNSW with evidence of full-time employment with in Independent school.
